1.0 OBJECTIVE: The primary aim is to establish a procedure for Checking the eccentric accuracy of a balance.
2.0 SCOPE: This procedure is applicable to the balance eccentric accuracy in the production area.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The Officer and Executive of the Production Department, together with the Manager of the Production Department, bear the responsibility.
4.0 DEFINITIONS:
None are applicable.
5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Check the cleanliness of the weighing balance.
5.2 Calibrate and operate the weighing balance following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) given for a weighing balance with a capacity of 210 grams, for a weighing balance with a capacity of 3100 grams as per their given SOP, and others weighing balances with capacities of 6 Kg, 30 Kg, 60 Kg, 150 Kg, and 600 Kg.
5.3 Select the standard weights for checking the eccentric accuracy for various balances based on the capacity as mentioned below.
5.4 Place the standard weights at five distinct points on the balance’s platform (including all four corners and the middle) to gauge the eccentric accuracy. Document the outcomes in Annexure-I.
5.5 Ideally, the displayed weight at all five locations should approximate each other.
5.6 If the results exceed the acceptable limit, attach an “UNDER MAINTENANCE” tag and immediately notify the department head for necessary corrective measures.
5.7 Ensure that the standard weights utilized are certified by the weights and measures department.
5.8 Frequency: Monthly.
