The RBI is offering two (02) part-time Pharmacist positions on a contractual basis. One position is reserved for SC (Scheduled Caste) candidates, and the other is reserved for OBC (Other Backward Class) candidates. The selected candidates will work in various dispensaries of the Reserve Bank of India, Chandigarh Regional Office.

Educational Qualification

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following educational qualifications:

a) Matriculation or its equivalent examination.
b) Minimum qualification of Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized University registered under the Pharmacy Act 1948.
c) Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (B. Pharm) in Pharmacy are also eligible to apply.

Experience Requirements

Candidates should fulfill the following experience criteria:

a) Registration with the Pharmacy Council of Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, or Haryana.
b) A minimum of two (02) years of experience as a pharmacist. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in PSBs (Public Sector Banks), PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings), or Government organizations.
c) Basic working knowledge of computers.

Remuneration, Duty Hours, and Other Conditions

Selected candidates will receive a fixed remuneration of Rs. 400/- per hour, with a maximum of five (05) hours per day. The total daily remuneration will not exceed Rs. 2000/-. Please note that no additional pay, allowance, or perks/facilities will be provided. It’s important to understand that the engagement as a Pharmacist with the RBI is purely on a contractual basis, and it does not confer any right for a temporary or permanent post within the Bank’s service.

The engagement period will be for a maximum of 240 days continuously, and the Bank reserves the right to allocate the candidate to any dispensary within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh. The decision regarding the dispensary allocation will be final, and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. The Bank also retains the right to discontinue the services of the Pharmacist at any time without prior notice or reason.

Selected candidates will be required to comply with all orders and directions issued by the Bank’s employees. It is essential to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the Bank’s affairs and serve the institution with honesty, loyalty, and high integrity.

The Pharmacist positions are available at the following locations within Chandigarh:

Mode for Selection

The selection process

The selection process for the Pharmacist position at RBI involves the following steps:

Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their overall educational qualifications (PG/Degree/Diploma), a distance of residence from various Bank dispensaries, and experience with PSBs/PSUs/Government organizations.

Interview: The shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview conducted by the Bank. The Bank reserves the right to raise the minimum eligibility standards to limit the number of candidates called for the interview. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee an interview. Please note that no travel allowance (TA), hotel allowance (HA), or any other allowances will be provided for attending the interview.

Medical Examination and Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted after the interview will undergo a medical examination and document verification process before engaging as a Pharmacist on a contractual basis. The cost of the medical examination will be borne by the applicants themselves.

Agreement and Acceptance: The selected candidate will be engaged as a Pharmacist upon being found medically fit and upon accepting the Terms and Conditions and the Code of Conduct (Annex II). The Bank’s decision in this regard will be final, and no correspondence will be entertained.

Code of Conduct:

i. Every Pharmacist is required to adhere to, follow, and comply with all instructions and directives provided by the authority in charge during their tenure.
ii. Maintaining utmost confidentiality is mandatory for every Pharmacist concerning the Bank’s and its constituents’ affairs. Disclosure of any confidential information, whether to the public or the Bank’s staff, is prohibited, unless legally compelled or instructed by a superior officer as part of their duties.
iii. Pharmacists’ commitment lies in faithfully serving the Bank and actively promoting its interests. They should conduct all transactions with courtesy and attentiveness.
iv. Pharmacists are strictly prohibited from engaging in political activities, participating in political demonstrations, or running for any political office at the Municipal Council, District Board, or any Legislative Body.
v. Pharmacists are not allowed to be members or office-bearers of any Trade Union or Federation associated with such unions. They should refrain from endorsing or supporting strikes, violent demonstrations, or indecent actions related to their contractual terms and conditions.
vi. Prior written consent from the Bank is required for any Pharmacist who wishes to publish or contribute to the press about the Reserve Bank of India’s affairs. They should not publish any documents, papers, or information obtained in their capacity as a Pharmacist engaged by the Bank.
vii. Soliciting or accepting gifts from fellow employees is prohibited for Pharmacists.
viii. Pharmacists must obtain permission from the Bank and make acceptable alternative arrangements if they need to be absent from their duties. The duration of such arrangements should not exceed five consecutive days.
ix. Pharmacists are not allowed to outsource their services to the Bank.
x. Pharmacists are bound to:

  • Strictly abide by the laws governing intoxicating drinks or drugs in the relevant area of their assignment.
  • Avoid being under the influence of intoxicating substances during duty hours and ensure their performance is not affected by such substances.
  • Refrain from consuming intoxicating drinks or drugs in public places.
  • Avoid appearing in a state of intoxication in public.
  • Use intoxicating drinks or drugs in moderation, without excessive consumption.
    Note: “Public place” encompasses clubs, including those exclusive to members who can invite non-members as guests, bars, restaurants, public transportation, and other accessible areas open to the public, whether through payment or otherwise.

xi. Pharmacists are strictly prohibited from engaging in any form of sexual harassment towards fellow male or female employees in the workplace. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome behavior of a sexually determined nature, whether expressed directly or implicitly, such as physical contact, sexual advances, sexually suggestive remarks, displaying pornography, or any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
xii. The contract may be terminated if a Pharmacist is arrested for debt, criminal charges, or detained according to legal processes.
xiii. Pharmacists are not allowed to give, solicit, receive, offer, or be party to any gift, gratuity, commission, or bonus in exchange for referring, recommending, or procuring patients for medical, surgical, or other treatments. They should not participate directly or indirectly in acts that involve dividing, transferring, assigning, subordinating, rebating, splitting, or refunding any fee related to medical, surgical, or other treatments.
xiv. The provision mentioned in (xiii) above equally applies to pharmacists or any other person involved in the referral, recommendation, or procurement of specimens or materials for diagnostic purposes or other study/work.
xv. The contract may be terminated if a Pharmacist violates the Bank’s code of conduct or breaches any terms and conditions mentioned in the accepted contract, demonstrates negligence, inefficiency, indolence, knowingly acts against the Bank’s interests or instructions, or engages in any other misconduct.

They are also required to submit all the necessary certificates in the prescribed format to support their claim when submitting the application.
