About NHM Himachal Pradesh
For the purpose of successfully carrying out the National Health Mission in the State, a separate Mission Directorate (NHM) has been established within the Directorate of Health. It has a Programmer Management Unit (PMU) managed by a Deputy Director/State Programmer Officer and a Financial Management Unit (FMU) led by a Jt. Controller of Finance. The Principal Secretary has control over the Mission Directorate, which collaborates closely with the Directorate of Health (Health). The State NHM now covers the vertical programmers’ budgets and plans.
To carry out its operations, the Mission in Himachal Pradesh makes use of the pre-existing structures of the Health Department up to the level of Sub-Centers. The Honorable Chief Minister is in control of the State Health Mission at the state level. A District Health Mission has been established, with the Chief Medical Officer serving as member secretary and the Deputy Commissioner serving as convener.
