1.0 Objective: To establish a procedure for the operation of metal detector and vertical deduster.
2.0 Scope: This procedure applies to the operation of metal detector and vertical deduster in the production area.
3.0 Responsibility:
Operator, Officer, Executive – Production Department
Manager – Production Department
4.0 Definitions: NA
5.0 Procedure:
5.1 Machine Setting:
- Ensure the equipment and area are clean. Attach an ‘UNDER PROCESS’ label on the equipment.
- Record all observations in the Equipment Usage Log Sheet as per SOP on “Equipment Usage Log Sheet“.
- Adjust the height of the vertical deduster to align its inlet chute below the outlet chute of the compression machine by adjusting the locking knob.
- Adjust the height of the metal detector using the locking knob.
- Adjust the position of the metal detector coil to position its inlet chute below the outlet chute of the tablet de-dusting vertical deduster.
5.2 Operation:
- Turn on the compressed air supply to the vertical deduster.
- Turn on the ON/OFF knob of the metal detector. The metal detector will turn on, and the opening screen will display while the rejection flap closes, opens, and closes.
- Press ‘LOCK’ on the control panel and enter the password for access.
- Load the product data, edit details if necessary, and set up parameters such as phase degree and threshold signals for both channels.
- Set the hold delay time to trap faulty products in the rejection box.
- Press the ‘RESULT’ key and navigate to the deduster screen.
- Enable the de-duster and start it. Adjust power and frequency to ensure proper tablet movement.
- Operate the compression machine as per SOP.
- After the operation, disable the deduster and turn off the ON/OFF knob of the metal detector.
5.3 Cleaning and Documentation:
- Affix a ‘TO BE CLEANED’ label on the machine.
- Record all observations in the Equipment Usage Log Sheet.
