1.0 OBJECTIVE: The objective of this procedure is to establish guidelines for effectively cleaning SS/HDPE containers, in-process containers (IPCs), blender bins, pallets, new sieves/screens, and accessories.

2.0 SCOPE: This procedure applies to the cleaning process of SS/HDPE containers, in-process containers (IPCs), blender bins, pallets, SS items, new sieves/screens, and accessories within the production department.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

The following personnel from the production department are responsible for carrying out this procedure:

4.0 DEFINITIONS

Accessories: This includes various items such as spoons, spatulas, paddles, scoops, ladders, tables, chairs, and measuring jars used in the production area.

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 In-process Containers (IPCs) and Blender Bins

5.1.1 Ensure that the IPC/Blender Bin is empty and affix a properly filled and signed “TO BE CLEANED” label.

5.1.2 Transfer the IPC/Blender Bin to the granulation wash area.

5.1.3 Remove the “TO BE CLEANED” label.

5.1.4 Unscrew the bolts of the butterfly valve and detach it from the IPC/Blender Bin.

5.1.5 Thoroughly scrub the inside, and outside surface, lid, and butterfly valve of the IPC/Blender Bin using 20-30 liters of purified water. If necessary, utilize the CIP unit.

5.1.6 Clean the PU wheels using a nylon brush and rinse with purified water.

5.1.7 Dry the IPC/Blender Bin with a lint-free cloth.

5.1.8 Use a wet lint-free duster to wipe the trolley and wheels.

5.1.9 Reassemble the butterfly valve.

5.1.10 Affix a “CLEANED” label that is properly filled and signed.

5.1.11 Transfer the IPC/Blender Bin to the designated storage area.

5.1.12 If the IPC/Blender Bin remains idle for more than 48 hours, clean it before use and replace the “CLEANED” label with a “TO BE CLEANED” label.

5.1.13 Before use, clean the IPC/Blender Bin again using a lint-free duster and wipe with 70% v/v IPA.

5.1.14 Replace the “TO BE CLEANED” label with a “CLEANED” label.

5.2 SS/HDPE Containers, Utensils, Cages, and Accessories

5.2.1 Ensure that the containers or utensils to be cleaned are free from any material.

5.2.2 Take the SS/HDPE containers, utensils, cages, and accessories to the washing area.

5.2.3 Scrub the inside, outside surface, and lid of the containers/utensils using a nylon scrubber and 15-20 liters of purified water.

5.2.4 Dry the containers with a lint-free duster.

5.2.5 Transfer the containers/utensils to the designated cleaned vessel storage area.

5.2.6 Clean all SS cages using a wet lint-free duster and dry them with a lint-free duster.

5.3 SS Pallet

5.3.1 Use a dry duster and nylon brush to clean the SS pallet.

5.3.2 During product changeover, clean both the SS pallet and PVC pallets with purified water and dry them using a clean lint-free duster.

5.4 Sieve/Screen

5.4.1 Take the new sieve/screen to the washing area.

5.4.2 Scrub the inside and outside surfaces using a nylon scrubber. Clean with 15-20 liters of purified water. If required, utilize the CIP unit.

5.4.3 Dry the sieve/screen with a lint-free duster.

5.4.4 Place each sieve/screen individually in a polybag and affix a properly filled and signed “CLEANED” label.

Note: The above procedure is applicable for type B cleaning during product-to-product changeover.
During batch changeover (Type A) cleaning, clean the outer and inner surfaces of IPCs, HDPE/SS containers, utensils, accessories, cages, and SS pallets using a dry lint-free cloth.
If the same product is run for three days, follow the cleaning procedure for type B.
